The Recap
We had a great kick-off this past week including a few close matchups, a couple surprises, a blowout, and a rule change (more on that later).
Closest Matchup
In the International E-Commerce Group, MercadoLibre just snuck by Jumia to grab the second spot out of the group. The winner was decided by a single vote! This is the closest result I have seen in either of the tournaments. With 361 votes cast, MercadoLibre found a way and advanced to the knockout round.
Apparently, voters slightly favored MercadoLibre’s record over Jumia’s potential in Africa.
Biggest Surprise
Especially given its run to the Elite 8 in MultiBagger Madness, I was surprised that Tesla finished in last in the Let’s Have Some Fun Group. The voting was fairly evenly spread out, but Skillz and Roku prevailed. Both Roblox, which recently announced it is delaying its IPO, and Tesla have been eliminated from the tournament.
Biggest Blowout
For our biggest blowout, we return to the International E-Commerce group. Sea Limited ran away with it, securing 64.3% of the total vote. It made it all the way to the Final Four of MultiBagger Madness, and voters still seem to be enamored with the stock. So far in the tournament, it is the clear front-runner, but a lot can change in month as we all have experienced in the stock market.
Rule Change
Many of you reached out to me requesting that your favorite stock be added to the tournament. To handle these requests, I set up a play-in game. Three stocks got a chance to take on the stock that had lowest vote total to make the knockout round.
Marriott finished the group stage with the lowest vote total for an advancing stock. It went up against Palantir, Lemonade, and Airbnb. The top vote-getter secured the last spot in the knockout round. Palantir won the matchup with 43.9% of the vote.
Now, let’s take a look at the bracket!
Overview
The 16 stocks were seeded based on the number of votes they accumulated in the group stage. There will be 2 matchups a day Monday-Thursday this week. The winner of each matchup will advance to the quarterfinals.

Stat Sheet
A couple people asked for some sort of stat sheet where could compare the companies and get a brief overview of some of their key metrics. This table contains market cap, quarterly yoy revenue growth, operating margin, and ev/sales.
